Prayer Shawls

St. John's is committed to providing comfort and love to anyone who needs or wants it.  These shawls are made with loving hands and blessed before distribution.  They have been sent all over God's Creation.

Child Advocacy Center of Northern New York

In addition to Prayer Shawls, St. John's provides blankets to comfort children of the Child Advocacy Center.  We also collect food items and toiletries for the center.

Cape Vincent Community Food Pantry

St. John’s co-sponsors a holiday voucher program as well as providing weekly donations, storage, and volunteers to the Food Pantry.  This is one of our longstanding and key commitments  with the community of Cape Vincent.

 Mother’s Day Tea

We hold our yearly tea to honor mothers every Saturday before Mother’s Day. Lovely tables set with linens, china, candles and flowers are surpassed only by the incredible food and desserts prepared by our parish women. Join us for a wonderful Mother’s Day tradition!

Comfort Station

We offer the simple blessings of hospitality and rest at Cape Vincent’s yearly French Festival. Many thirsty tired people and pets stop by for shelter, free water, juice and a place to sit. Sited along the parade route, we are well received!

Free Organ Recitals

Nancy Delborgo shares her love of music and our community by sponsoring free organ recitals at St. John’s. The music, followed by a reception, allows guests to linger, to savor the event and socialize. She revealed a number of guests declared it a wonderful

community event!

Free Ham Dinner Tickets

Last September free Ham Dinner tickets were donated by parishioners and others to the Food Pantry. The Pantry in turn offered the tickets to everyone they serve. Many accepted and expressed their appreciation to our servers and the Pantry. We hope to do more of this in the future.

Blessing of the Pets

This Episcopal tradition is available to all pets in our community out on our front lawn. It may be more meaningful to the owners than to their nervous pets!

Christmas Stockings and Adopt a Family

This annual program is sponsored by the Lions Club. We collect clothing and gifts for children along with gift cards and holiday stockings for distribution by the Lions to families in our community.  Staff members at Cape Vincent Elementary coordinate the details.

Flip flops and orange medicine bottles

We collect these items to support central New York’s sister diocese in El Salvador.

United Thank Offering

With this venerable program, championed by Rev. Jennifer Kenna, we are asked to recognize our blessings and make a thank offering to support Episcopal mission and ministry around the world. Look for the box!
